My name is Walt Kessler. I'm a retired machinist from Ohio. For forty years I measured things for a living. Most days, down to a thousandth of an inch.

A running toilet is a ten-dollar part, most of the time. A dryer that takes two cycles is usually a blocked vent, not a dead dryer. And a dead bathroom outlet? Very often it's a safety switch doing its job. It's just waiting for somebody to press a button.

But you don't know that, standing in front of it. So you call someone. And the visit costs more than the part. Every single time.

I wrote this book so you'd know. That's all it is. Forty years of knowing what's really wrong, written down plain. One page per problem.

What It Is
